New Issues 2010 (April - June)

This page collects only issues released during the year 2010, period April to June. 

As it is not such obvious as it looks to find this information, this list is probably not yet complete. In certain countries, joint issues are often announced on the day of the issue and sometimes it takes months before this information and the corresponding stamps reach us. Data on missing issues or supplementary information, particularly for countries, which are producing joint issues exceptionally, will be highly appreciated.

2010 (April 9)
Botswana - Lesotho - Malawi (*) - Mauritius - Namibia - South Africa - Swaziland - Zambia - Zimbabwe

Third SAPOA joint issue - 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa - Siamese issue [S1].
Same stamps showing a soccer player in action, the official mascot Zakumi, a soccer ball and a flag; nine stamps with 9 different flags in a miniature sheet. A special miniature sheet of 9 stamps with 9 different countries was issued as well, explaining the reason for ranking as Siamese issue. Multicolored and gold foil.
One miniature sheet with 9 identical stamps for each country (printing quantities are as low as 5,000 per country) - One miniature sheet with one stamp from each country - some countries have issues stamps in panes (Botswana, Swaziland and Zimbabwe, all 9 stamps; Zambia, 3 stamps - no gold foil) - FDCs

2010 (April 14)
Canada - Israel

60 years friendship - Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. Maple tree leaf, David's star and stylized people; flags of both countries (Diplomatic relationships between both countries were established on May 11, 1949). Red, blue and gray.
One stamp per country (with tab for Israel) - FDCs - mixed FDC - mixed Souvenir Leaf


2010 (April 20)
Australia - Papua New Guinea

Kokoda joint issue; 60th anniversary of Kokoda campaign of 1942. Australian soldiers halted the Japanese invasion of Papua and New Guinea. Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. A, Fighting scene; B, Wounded soldiers with PNG support; C, Veterans; D, Kokoda today; E, Kokada Isurara memorial. Multicolored.
5 stamps per country - One souvenir sheet with 5 stamps per country - FDCs - mixed FDC with stamps - mixed FDC with miniature sheet - special gutter strip - Australian stamps and medallion cover - Australian Prestige booklet with 3 miniature sheets containing blocs of 4 - Maxi cards - Australian self adhesive stamps in coils of 100 or in booklets of 10


At the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Spain and Bulgaria, Bulgaria issued on May 4, 2010 a stamp representing the flags of both countries. There was no counterpart in Spain for this issue.

100 years of the Bernina train connection - Parallel issue [P1].
Different stamps. Rhaetian railway in the Albula/Bernina landscape - Centenary of its completion (UNESCO heritage); Italy: red train on a viaduct; Switzerland: red train. Multicolored.

Manuela Saenz "La Libertadora", revolutionary hero of South America, partner of leader Simon Bolivar. Twin issue [T1].

France - Monaco

100 years of the Institute of Human Paleontology, Paris (1910-2010). Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. Portrait of Prince Albert 1st of Monaco and the Abbé Breuil, building, caves (Grimaldi cave) and early humanoids. Multicolored.

2010 (June 14)
Austria - Israel

Simon Wiesenthal (1908-2005) - Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. Portrait of Simon Wiesenthal and David's star; label with sentence, "Justice, not revenge". Violet and black.
One stamp per country - FDCs - mixed FDCs - Souvenir Leaf
Care: the special laser printed star appearing on both sides of the Austrian stamp is water sensitive. Do not wash this stamp!


2010 (June 16)
Czech Republic - Luxembourg

700th anniversary of the arrival of the Luxembourg royal family on the Bohemia throne. Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. Portrait of John I, called John the Blind, von Luxemburg (1296-1346; reign starting in 1310) and his wife, Elisabeth (Premyslovna) von Böhmen (1292-1330). Multicolored.
One stamp per country - miniature sheets of 5 with labels (Czech Republic) or 10 stamps (Luxembourg) - FDCs


2010 (June 18)
South Korea - United Arab Emirates

30th anniversary of relationship. Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. Ventilation towers: Chimney of Mt. Amisan in Gyeongbokgung Palace, in Korea (1865) at Gyotaejeon Hall, the living quarters of the queen; UAE's traditional air-conditioning tower called Barjeel. Multicolored.
Pair of se-tenant stamps for each country - FDCs


2010 (June 21)
Belarus - Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM)

Relationship between both countries. SMOM is not recognized by UPU; therefore even if it looks like a Twin issue [T1], this pair will be ranged in the category Non approved [NR].
Identical stamps. Coat of Arms from both countries (Convention between the two countries was signed on April 28, 2009). Multicolored.
One stamp per country - - miniature sheets of 4 stamps - FDCs


2010 (June 28)
Russia - Serbia

Relationship - Icons. Twin issue [T1].
Identical pair of stamps. Two different icons (paintings). Multicolored.
One pair of se-tenant stamps per country - miniature sheets of 8 stamps (4 pairs in structure of 3x3 stamps including the central label) - FDCs


2010 (June 28)
Brazil - Syria

Relationship - Brazilian series: diplomatic relationships, history and tourism. Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. Views of Rio de Janeiro (Christ Redemptor, Pao de Açucar, Guanabara Bay, Copacabana; Maalula, antique mountain city at the north east of Damas; flags of both countries; flowers, orchid (Laelia purpurata sanguina) and jasmine (Jasminum grandiflora). Multicolored.

2010 (June 30)
Portugal - Romania

Relationship - Ceramics. Twin issue [T1].
Identical stamps. Tiles: A, azulejos, man playing guitar, 18th century, Lisbon (National Tile Museum, Lisbon); B, stylized flower (tulips), 19th century, Bistrija-Nasaud (Romanian Peasant Museum, Bucarest). Multicolored.

Relationship. Concerted issue [C1].
Identical stamps. Rock of Gibraltar and Mount Titano, Moorish castle (Gibraltar) and Second Tower (San Marino). Multicolored.
